NSTRA Rules regarding High Point Competition: Determination of the High Point dog will be based only on the 3/2/1 point system, and will include points earned in trial competition in home region plus those earned in Qualification trials for a Championship Trial. Points earned in the qualifying rounds (first day's trial) of a Regional Championship trial DO count towards the region’s high point competition (these points are counted towards the upcoming season, not the season that concluded before the Regional). Points earned in the finals of Regional trials DO NOT count towards the region’s high point. Non-Champion Dogs earning a minimum of 1 point during the year are eligible to compete in the year-end Arizona Regional Trial. AZNSTRA Region dogs with Champion status are qualified for all Arizona Regional Trials.
Perpetual High Point Dog Plaque donated by John Trout, Jr. at the March 6th, 2020 Regional Championship. This traveling plaque goes to the region High Point dog to be kept for the entire year until the next Regional Championship where the new High Point dog is crowned. Many thanks to John Trout for researching 10 years of past High Point dogs and donating this to our Region.

The AZ Regional Trial is a two day elimination trial that determines the Arizona Region's champion dog for the year and to determine which Arizona Region dogs qualify to attend the National NSTRA DOG OF THE YEAR TRIAL.
NSTRA Rules for Regional Trial Elimination Eligibility:
a. Those (dogs) placing first, second or third and earning points for the placement (in an Arizona Region Trial), as in a full 24/32 dog
trial. In a trial that earns less than 3 points, only pointed placements count.
b. The current Regional Champion (last year’s winner) is automatically qualified for the next year’s
Regional Elimination trial regardless of point count. (BOD Oct 2013)
c. NSTRA Champions must run in their home region
d. Out of region dogs may participate as long as they have earned points within your region and
have not received points in their home region or attained Championship status.
i. Dogs that receive points in their home region must compete in their home Regional
Elimination.
e. Dogs may enter only ONE Regional Elimination trial per calendar year.
Contact the Region President or Regional Trial Chairman if you have questions about eligibility or to sign up for the AZ Regional trial.
The day after the Regional trial concludes there is a regular trial, usually a Double/Double, and it is the first trial of the new year and any NSTRA member may enter that trial. Contact the Regional Trial Chairman to sign up for this trial.
