Directions: I-40 to Parks, Az exit which is exit 178. North to stop sign, turn left. Proceed to, and turn right on first road you can, which is Spring Valley Road aka Forest Road 141.  Continue straight and paved road will become dirt road, continue on until you see the main road make an obvious sharp 90 degree left turn.  There will be a property with a wooden fence along the west side of the road.  In the middle of the left turn take a slight right turn off the main road onto Forest Road (FR) 194.  Follow FR 194 to FR 786.  Follow FR 786 until you see the sign for Red Tank.  Proceed to the first left  turn, FR 734, and you have arrived at your destination.

PAINTED DESERT TRIAL GROUNDS MAPS. Click any map for larger version.
DIRECTIONS: Drive 15 1/2 miles east on I-40 from I-17 to Winona exit (exit 211)

Update to directions to Painted Rock Trial Grounds:  I drove out to the trial grounds today, 4-26, and have better directions and got odometer readings on how to get to the trial grounds and I put out NSTRA signs (we only have 4 now). Please use these directions to the trial grounds. I now have better directions for you than Google maps had previously.

From Winona Road exit (211) drive 2 miles on Townsend-Winona Road to Leupp Rd.

Turn right on Leupp Rd and drive 6.4 miles to the open gate on the dirt gas line road where you turn right off Leupp road. The gate has signs that indicate gas line and I have placed a NSTRA sign on Leupp Road at the gate. You will see a hill on the right side of the gas line road, you will be essentially following a dirt road around the hill to get to the trial grounds.

Go 1/2 mile from the gate to a fork in the road and take the right fork on the wide, well used dirt road. There is another NSTRA sign at this fork, pointing right.

You will want to follow this wide, well used dirt road for a mile, most of the way to the trial grounds. When you encounter any forks in the road just bear to the right and stay on the wide road.

After following the wide road for a mile the wide road will obviously fork left and a narrow road proceeds straight at this fork, it is marked by one of the small forest road signs, road 504, and I put a NSTRA sign there. Go straight and follow FR 504 straight for 1/2 mile to the camp ground on the right, where I put another NSTRA sign.

The wide road has developed some washboard in it so trailers will want to go slow. Hopefully the NSTRA signs will not disappear before the trial :-)
